Teen Suicide in High School

Teen Suicide in High School
By : Audren Illera
Billy Wayes High School Newspaper

Yesterday afternoon, a young high school student named Becky Sabrina committed suicide due to bullying from her peers from her school. Witnesses say she stopped in the middle of the highway and got out of her car, and she then made her way to the side of the bridge.  Many tried to stop her but it was too late. When police finally reached the scene, they found a 2 year old baby in the back seat of her car.  After they found the baby, they made their way down to the water and searched for her body but nothing was found. The search kept going but they found nothing, they eventually had to stop the search.  After a few weeks of searching for Becky’s body, they finally found her body floating in the water by the Hudson River.
When they examined the body they found multiple scars and bruises around her veins and wrists. Then they went to her school and interviewed a bunch of her peers. Many of them say they did bully her but they didn’t know it would go too far. Many of them confess to the mean notes, the knives in her locker, and the papers they taped to her locker. Other’s stayed shut and had nothing to say. One boy named Daniel Corsedon said “I dated Becky for a while , but when people started telling me all these things, I decided to ignore her and do my own thing, but when I saw that things were going to far with her and other people, I wanted to say something but when I went to, no words came out of my mouth and I walked away”. When we asked him about the 2 year old baby, he confessed to being rough with Becky and forcing her to have his baby. “ I felt really stupid about what I did and I feel like this whole thing is my fault because as soon as she got pregnant, I didn’t want to be with her because of all the rumors going around” said Daniel.
Many others need advice when it comes to bullying or when it comes to trying to commit suicide. They don’t handle it the right way and they kill themselves not knowing what’s headed for them in their future and the little things in their past will try to stop them but they have to be strong, face their fears and move on to something positive in their life. When teens are struggling with bullying, they can go to many people to help them, such as friends, parents, teachers, psychologists, and social workers. There are many people in your community that will want to help you and help you get through your problems.
